TITLE (UNIT 3 speaking task)

INSTRUCTIONS: CHOOSE one of the two options below and write a FOR/AGAINST  essay about it. Make, at least, a 120 words long.

Illegal downloading of stuff on the internet could be reduced considerably if CD of film and music are more inexpensive, for example, if the cinema was more inexpensive, people go to the cinema with friends or family and we don´t download the films. Moreover if the film is atractive and in the videoclub is inexpensive, the people buy the film and illegal downloading isn´t increasing.
For the other hand, if we download de music the music producers not obtain benefit because people don´t buy the CDs and don´t make money if we download music illegally. This can be changed if the producers will attract the attetion of the people, for example making offers.

Traditions for sale

A Christian sat  in Roman prison and wrote a farewell letter to his girlfriend. The letter signalled the birth of a multi-million-dollar industry.

Lovers have honoured St Valentine for years by sending romantic messages. Today  businesses discovered that advertising could persuade people also to send romantic gift.
Other celebration is St George´s Day.

The supermarket making a killing from a festivity that took place earlier that Bonfire Night, Halloween.

The success of these commercialized traditions puts some people´s backs up.

TASK 2

TASK # 2
TITLE: Juan's Story.
DEADLINE: 1 November evening (not later than 9)
INSTRUCTIONS: Finish the story in writing as you think best. Make sure that you produce at least around 100 words. Then make a recording of the same text and send it to the teacher's email address: miguelgarciaarreza@gmail.com
 
Juan has convinced his parents to let him use the house they have in the country to spend a few days with his friends. It`s a long weekend and Juan and his friends drive to the house to spend their holidays there. The date is 1November, All Saints' Day. Juan and his friend decide to have a Halloween party. They dress up and decorate the house with pictures of skeletons, skulls, ghosts and monsters  to help create the rigth atmosphere. They have also bought beer and other drinks.
It`s late in the evening and it`s getting rather cold and windy. The rain starts coming down. Suddenly the lights go off. Alicia, one of Juan`s friends suggests they can do a ouija session in the dark to have some fun. They all agree with enthusiasm. They set up everything and start doing it. However they weren`t prepared for the events that would happen later in the house and that they would never forget the rest of their lives.


when they were playing, they heard a noise, everyone was surprised and some wanted to stop because they were afraid. Later it began to rain harder and suddenly rang the door. All were frightened and the door kept ring again. Juan went to open it and there was nobody. They wanted to stop playing but it was too late, there was something between them. They began to sound the windows and suddenly sounded a voice saying "I will kill you". All were frightened and ran away.

TASK 1



TASK # 1
TITLE: A report on supermarkets tricks to get you to buy more.
 DEADLINE: 16/10/16
INSTRUCTIONS:

1. WRITE a report on how big supermarkets and department stores try to attract people and get them to buy as much as possible.
2. USE some of the ideas mentioned in class (and any others you may think of)
3. DIVIDE your text in, at least, three paragraphs:
 
   INTRODUCTION - MAIN BODY - CONCLUSION

4. MAKE SURE you use many of the expressions in exercise 4 page 15.

(The text must contain, at least, 80 words)

The purpose of this report is to how big supermarkets and department stores try to attract people and get them to buy as much as possible.

Shops use visual tactics. For example, in shopping, there are no shop fronts. As a result, people can see their goods and enter easly. Moreover, shops use smell to attract shoppers. For instance, department stores use good smells that make you inside and even buy something.

In conclusion, the shoping center use this techniques for people to spend more of waht they want.
